The Scene
Juniper Jackson is Saturday morning
Bursting with plans and ideas
Jeremy Johnson a rainy day Monday
Consumed with his worries and fears
One seat on the bus, still free and inviting
Location is more than just chance
Juniper Jackson and Jeremy Johnson
Converge right on time for fates dance
Jeremy, resting his head on the window
Rehearsing his woes unaware
Juniper, jubilant, day full of promise
Engaging and ready to share
A bump in the road, and a slip of the hand
A reflex too slow to react
Juniper laughing, Jeremy mortified
Hot coffee begins the first act
Jeremy
Jeremy prostrate, begging forgiveness
Juniper beaming with glee
Jeremy frantically rubbing a wet patch
Well north of Junipers knee
Realisation hits hard and Jeremy freezes
His hand stops abruptly on tour
Eyes meet for one moment of recognition
And Jeremy faints to the floor
If a faint was a wish in a magical tale
Poor Jeremy would have flown
To an island of palm trees and coconuts
Replete with his sadness, alone
But life loves us more than we’ll ever believe
And Jeremy quickly returned
His head cradled gently in warm, steady arms
With Juniper deeply concerned
The light shines intensely in Junipers eyes
A beacon for Jeremy’s soul
There is no more escape to his fainting place
An angel has taken control
A whimper escapes as he follows the light
A plea from a sad, lonely heart
His defence has been broken, as fate moves in
And gently tears him apart
Juniper
Moments that Juniper never conceived of
Scenes from old comedy flickers
Cradling a man on a bus on a Wednesday
Coffee soaked through to her knickers
The feeling intense, the sensation is new
But Juniper isn’t that kind
Progress, enjoyment, true love and fulfilment
All gained through control of your mind
A well-structured life with a logical plan
No needless imagination
And yet here she is embracing a stranger
With breathless anticipation
As the world narrows in she studies those eyes
Whirlpools of purest emotion
A voice reaching in to the depths of her being
Is calling her to devotion
The voice whispers softly as Jeremy smiles
Sweet music for Junipers soul
There is no more escape to her logical place
An angel has taken control
A deep sigh escapes as she answers the voice
Somehow she is standing apart
Her defence has been broken, as fate moves in
And gently unshackles her heart
Fate
A seat on a bus with a bump in the road
A coffee that’s too hot to hold
The timing is perfect the JJ’s engaged
The scene has begun to unfold
A delicate balance, gentle persuasion
Revealing the deepest desire
Condensing each life to this special moment
The spark that will light up the fire
For the JJ’s the path is not set in stone
But determined by how they choose
The clouds have been banished the way ahead clear
There is nothing for them to lose
So as Juniper sighs, Jeremy whimpers
Consumed in life’s glorious light
Fate has a date in the Karma café with
A muffin and hot trim flat white
Twists and turns – I would like to see it illustrated
